TOTTENHAM travel to Brentford for Saturday’s evening kick-off in the Premier League. James Cantrill (@JimmyThePunt) shares his thoughts on the fixture.

No side has scored more goals this calendar year than Spurs (34). In that 15 games period, they have scored an average of 2.26 goals per game, finding the net in all bar four and bagging three or more on seven occasions domestically.

With their games averaging 3.46 goals per game since the turn of the year, I think Bet365’s price of 10/11 for the game to feature at least three goals is worth taking.

In terms of goals, the hosts can often be very obliging as well. Their EPL games have averaged 2.72 goals this season with 54% hitting this line. The Bees have been particularly rampant recently as well scoring 14 times in their last six league games, last failing to bag at least one goal vs Newcasltle in February. Since that 0-2 defeat, Thomas Frank’s side fixtures have averaged exactly three goals per game.

The dynamic of this fixture also suits goals. Frank is a goal orientated supremo and his sites are set on a top half finish. With the Bees comfortably above the drop, they could lose some caution as they chase a remarkable achievement.

Following a disappointing and damaging result at home to Brighton in their last fixture. You would expect a big reaction from Conte’s side here. Especially with their local rivals 2-4 win at Stamford Bridge ramping up the pressure on their pursuit of a top four finish.

Another angle that appeals is Christian Eriksen to score a goal or register an assist at 6/5 with Betfair.

Since his debut cameo vs Newcaslte at the end of February, the Danish international has been phenomenal. Operating in a three-man midfield, surprisingly he is often the deepest player, a role first he first transitioned to in Milan where he helped Antonio Conte’s Inter to the 2020-21 Serie A title.

In West London it has revolutionised the Bees midfield. By utilising Eriksen’s technical ability and passing range, Frank’s side have become press resistant epitomised by the Bess boss post Chelsea; “You can always give it to Christian and he will find a solution.”

Pre Eriksen’s first start, Brentford had not won in nine games, losing eight of those fixtures. They had picked up just four points this calendar year, slumping to fifteenth in the table, just three points above the drop and in real danger of becoming embroiled in a relegation scrap.

Since Eriksen’s first start, the Bees have won five of their six games including their last three on the spin, a 1-4 route at Stamford Bridge, 2-0 vs West Ham and 1-2 away at Watford. Staggeringly, over that period only Liverpool have taken more points (16) than Brentford’s 15.

Eriksen already has a goal and two assists to his name with this bet landing in three of his last four appearances, boasting an G+A average of 0.55 per 90.

Instead of having a point on Betfair’s price of 6/5 to register either, it is more profitable to dutch both individual markets.

You can get him to score anytime at 13/2 with 10Bet, Sport Nation and Vbet and he is 9/2 to register an assist with Sky Bet and Coral.
