JACK Wright’s (@JackWright_BSB) Bet of the Day returns for Wednesday as we head to Germany.
Schwaben Augsburg vs Turkspor Augsburg | Wednesday 13th April 2022, 16:45
I’m taking a plunge in to the fifth tier of German football for Wednesday’s Bet of the Day as Schwaben Augsburg aim to keep alive their feint hopes of replicating their recent promotion campaigns of 2016 and 2017 as they welcome Turkspor Augsburg to their Ernst-Lehner-Stadion.
János Radoki’s side sit in seventh place, 11 points adrift of Ingolstadt II in second but with this game in hand, a win is essential to close the gap to eight points and keep the pressure on with what will be six games remaining.
Boasting the third best home record in the division (W9, D3, L2) Schwaben will definitely go in to this clash high in confidence as they have won eight of their last nine games in front of their own fans, only dropping two points to aforementioned promotion rivals Ingolstadt II despite taking a first half lead.
Their recent run of form has been built on a miserly defence with their last six home wins coming to nil and conceding just eight goals in their last 15 games in total, but to compliment that they have also scored in 12 successive fixtures.
Turkspor have been sucked in to a relegation battle having suffered a slump in form which has seen them lose four of their last five league games including all of the last three where they have only managed to hit the back of the net once.
With the combination of a need to win, fantastic home form, strong defence and consistent goal scoring I have to take the odds of 4/5 for another victory in their own stadium.
